Eye care

Everything the family needs under one roof, from a four-year-old's first eye test to tracking a chronic condition year on year.

Comprehensive eye examination

Adults & children

The full appointment, and the one most people come in for. It covers how well you see, how comfortably your eyes work together, and the health of the eye itself. Plenty of conditions show up on the inside long before they affect vision.

  • History and symptoms, including any family history of eye disease
  • Visual acuity and refraction, which gives the prescription itself
  • Binocular vision: how the two eyes coordinate, focus and track together
  • Eye pressure testing
  • Examination of the front of the eye and the retina
  • Fundus photography or an OCT scan where it's clinically useful

You'll leave knowing what your prescription is, whether it has changed, and what we found, explained in plain language rather than read off a screen.

Children's eye tests & behavioural optometry

Children

A child who can read the bottom line of the chart can still struggle to read a book. Behavioural optometry looks at how a child uses their eyes for the things they actually do: reading, writing, screens, catching a ball. Measuring sight on its own misses all of that.

  • Focusing, eye teaming and tracking as they're used in close work
  • Eye–hand coordination and visual processing
  • Testing pitched at the child's age, including pre-readers
  • A plan you can act on, whether that's lenses, therapy or simply a recheck

Worth booking if a child avoids reading, loses their place, complains of headaches or tired eyes, or if a teacher has raised something.

Vision therapy & myopia management

Children & adults

Vision therapy is a structured programme of exercises and lens work that builds visual skills such as focusing stamina, eye teaming and tracking, in the same way physiotherapy builds strength. It runs over a set course with reviews along the way, not as a single visit.

Myopia management is aimed at children whose short-sightedness is increasing. The goal is to slow how fast the prescription changes, rather than simply issuing a stronger lens each year, since the degree of myopia reached in adulthood matters for long-term eye health.

Neither is booked through the online diary. Call or WhatsApp 078 532 5902 and we'll set up the first consultation.

Contact lens fitting & care

Adults & children

A contact lens prescription isn't the same as a spectacle prescription. The lens sits on the eye, so the fit, the curve and the material all matter as much as the power.

  • Measurement and fitting, with trial lenses before you commit
  • Daily, monthly and specialised lens types
  • Teaching you to insert, remove and care for them properly
  • Aftercare checks to make sure the eye stays healthy in the lens

Dry eye assessment & management

Adults

Burning, grittiness, watering, fluctuating vision and that end-of-day screen fatigue are usually a tear film problem rather than a prescription problem. They are common enough that most people assume nothing can be done about them.

  • Assessment of the tear film and of lid and gland health
  • Identifying the cause: evaporation, poor tear quality or lid inflammation
  • A treatment plan built around what you'll realistically keep up with
  • Follow-up to check whether it's actually working

Ocular health & corneal checks

Adults

A focused look at the health of the eye rather than at your prescription. Used for monitoring a known condition over time, or for checking something that has changed.

Pressure checks

Adults

A short appointment to measure the pressure inside the eye on its own, usually where pressure is already being monitored over time.

Vision screening & drivers screening

Schools, workplaces & licences

A shorter appointment that checks whether vision is within normal range and flags anyone who needs a full examination. Suited to schools, sports clubs and workplace programmes, and to the eye test required for a driving licence.

A screening is designed to catch the people who need a comprehensive examination. It does not replace one.

Frame repairs & adjustments

Walk in

Glasses that slide down, press behind the ear or sit crooked get left in a drawer. Most of that is a five-minute fix: nose pads, screws, arm alignment, tightening a hinge. Bring them in and we'll set them straight. No booking needed.

Eye drops & lens care

In stock

Drops for dryness, irritation and digital eye strain, and cleaning and storage solution for contact lens wearers. Buying them here means you're not guessing in a pharmacy aisle about what suits your eyes.

In the consulting room

Pressure testing, fundus photography and OCT scanning are all on site. The back of your eye gets photographed and scanned here, then compared against last year's images, so a slow change gets noticed while it is still slow.

Needs Kim's input before launch

  • Appointment lengths for each service, so people know what to set aside
  • Fees, and which services are claimable
  • Which medical aids the practice bills directly
  • Whether vision therapy runs as a fixed-length programme, and roughly how long

Not sure which appointment you need?

Call or send a WhatsApp and we'll point you at the right one.
